During the brainstorming stages in May of 2008, owner Lynn envisioned the idea of bringing together small, local designers into one convenient outlet. She hit the drawing board hard and by December they went from concept to completion. Detroit Clothing Company currently stocks over 13 Detroit-based brands, including ‘Made in Detroit' and ‘Aptemal Clothing' clothing and accessories. The DCC brand and product assortment consists of tee-shirts, hoodies, tanks, jackets, jewelry, belts & buckles, hats, and art. Although they are always open to extending their merchandise mix, perhaps introducing footwear, they want to keep their concept as simple as possible. They also have their own private label which is appropriately self-tagged ‘Detroit Clothing Company'. The DCC brand is sold in-store and various designs incorporate graffiti-inspired and music-themed graphics. Every item at DCC is locally committed; the designers, photographers, distributors, and the printers are all from the Metro-Detroit area.
