Ann Arbor's Michigan Theater combines living history with a singular dedication to the finest film and live entertainment available today. We offer two auditoriums: the Historic Theater and the Screening Room; find out more about each below. You can also take one of our illustrated tours. View the theater today after its loving restoration, and learn about its history and about a Michigan treasure: the Barton Theatre Pipe Organ, one of the only theater organs in existence that is still played in its original home on a regular basis.

This pearl in the middle of Ann Arbor amazes me with it's variety of movies and shows. The best feature - besides the beautiful screening room - is the organ. I love coming 30min early just to hear the organ play.
The first movie I saw in Michigan was at the Michigan Theater - Shirley Valentine, and I LOVED it. The MT has the best atmosphere - live organ accompaniments for silent films, and the beautifully restored main theater is worth visiting even when no movie is playing. The additional screening room, with its top-notch sound system, means that even when there are live events playing in the main theater, there's a great film to see in the screening room. Real butter on the popcorn is just an extra benefit!
Michigan Theater here in Ann Arbor is marvelous community resource. The Michigan Theater provides a wide variety of film and live entertainment for the public. The magnificent environment, including the grand organ, makes attending an event a real treat!
The Michigan Theater is a community treasure that brings our city together and makes it special. Amazing performers come to the Michigan Theater, I've seen Bonnie Raitt, BB King, and David Sedaris there recently. This weekend I saw Man on Wire on the big screen with organ music before the show and fresh popcorn during. There is nothing else like this.
Cannot say enough wonderful things about this theater! Gorgeous atmosphere, wonderful employees, fantastic pre-show organist, and films that you do not see anywhere else! Also a fantastic place for concerts. We are very fortunate to have this gem right in the heart of Ann Arbor!
the Michigan Theater presents the best of the newest, the oldest and the classics. The Michigan Theater is a leader in the Ann Arbor Community through the involvement of its Staff and its support to non profits.
The Michigan Theater has proven itself as a venue with staff capable of drawing important films (such as Body of War, Fahrenheit 911) with limited regional engagements. As one who lives in an adjacent community without independent theater options, the Michigan Theater is very, very important to me as a resource.
The Michigan Theater is a treasure. Not only has it been restored to its 1928 splendor, it shows outstanding movies, is a venue for top notch concerts and performers and the home of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. It also can boast the best butter popcorn in town!
I love the Michigan Theater! It provides me with amazing indie films, the best of the big cinema productions, AND outstanding musical acts that can't be seen anywhere else in SE Michigan.
