Welcome to New Horizons Book Shop. We have been supporting readers for over 30 years. The proprietor, Ed D'Angelo, grew up working in his father's bookstore, Merit Books in Detroit. He opened New Horizons Book Shop in the early 70's and expanded his business over the years to the superstore it is today. New Horizons is known for its extensive magazine selection - over 3000 titles! It is the only bookstore on the eastside that sells out-of-state newspapers from several states across the country. New Horizons specializes in local topics and has a terrific selection of used books.

Our friendly and knowledgable staff helps to make us the most successful independent bookstore in the Detroit metro area.

I LOVE THIS BOOKSTORE! They have all of my favorite magazines! I visit the store at least once a week. The staff is very friendly and helps me find whatever I need, even if they don't have it in stock. It's good to know my money is going towards an independent business that has been running for over 30 years!! VOTE FOR NEW HORIZONS!! They deserve it!

Everyone is pleasant (not phoney) knowledgeable and can pretty much get whatever you cannot find within the store. Hours of business are good and 7 days a week- the friendly service is there..every day and night.

Great Bookstore! Largest selection of magazines anywhere. If you want it, they got it! They have a great used paperback section & I utilize their buyback service frequently.
