Sportsmen's Dog Training Club of Detroit, Inc was founded in 1942 and was Michigan's first dog training club. Our purpose is to promote training of all dogs and to encourage individuals to train their dogs. Our instructors have an average of 15 or more years experience in training dogs and earning titles in Obedience, Agility, Conformation, Rally and many other venues.

Even though I now live in Florida, SDTC is the best dog training facility in the U.S. Through this club I have made many life long friends and all of my dogs have been trained using SDTC basics. I trained and was active in the club in the 60's, 70's and 80's and still maintain a non-residence membership. They are the best!
Excellent staff and place to train. Also - they don't cost you a bundle like some of the other places that are open. They also have a staff that actually show their dogs in AKC events.
All of the instructors are great, but Cathi Winkles is the best! She is especially good at solving training problems with one's own dog (such as unnecessary barking). Excellent training center.
Cathi Winkles is an awesome accomplished trainer who has multiple titles on her own dogs. She has the innate ability to communicate her knowledge clearly to her students and their dogs
I 've trained with them for several years, all my dogs have benefited from the beginners class, I was out walking the other day with my dogs and a neighbor complimented me on how well mannered my dogs are.
