Zingerman's Bakehouse
Category: Cakes (62 listings) Bakery (87 listings)
Zingerman's Delicatessen was opened in March of 1982 by Paul Saginaw and Ari Weinzweig in an historic building near the Ann Arbor Farmers' Market. In 1992 Zingerman's Bakehouse set up shop on Plaza Drive in Ann Arbor. Founded because the folks at the Deli wanted better bread for their sandwiches, the Bakehouse soon gained a loyal following to their Bakeshop near the Ann Arbor airport. A national reputation for traditionally made breads and pastries soon followed and the Bakehouse gained fans all over the country thanks to Zingerman's Mail Order (zingermans.com) shipping breads, pies and cakes from coast to coast. In 2006, ZIngerman's Bakehouse opened BAKE!, a hands-on teaching bakery dedicated to showing adults, teens and kids how to make breads and pastries the Zingerman's way.

One of the top bakeries in the USA...If you don't believe me, just check Gourmet magazine. You cannot not find better "daily breads" than their Farmhouse, Egg, or Sourdough or their "special occasion" breads like the Chocolate Cherry. And then there are Zingerman's pastries and bagels and rolls!
These are artisian breads and they are expensive but worth the price. Class A Plus!

many different kinds of breads to choose from,
whether you like sour dough or maybe something
different like chocolate cherry bread,m-m-m-m-m.
Or you have company coming over for dessert,
how about key lime pie or one of their fudgy brownies or maybe some cake. I love their carrot

Zingerman's is the gold standard for bread, in my opinion, due to the wide variety of specialty flavors and the superior crust on all their loaves. I don't think their cakes and other sweets are in the same league, though. Not that they aren't delicious, but I prefer other bakeries for sweets.
